Potter Automotive
My name is A.J. Potter. I grew up in a family that repaired vehicles for others as well as our own vehicles. I can remember many days spent in the driveway with my grandfather under a vehicle. As I grew up and graduated from high school, I still had a deep love for cars, but I also found a love for electronics. This was around the time computers started being more evident in vehicles. So I decided the automotive world was for me as I would get both electronics and cars. So I went to college and got a degree in applied sciences for Automotive Technology and obtained my first full-time job in the field while still in college. My first shop had a lot of really helpful and experienced technicians who taught me a lot. I took this knowledge and my love for electronics and used it to grow into the Automotive expert I am today. After 15 years in the field, I have worked for a few automotive shops and led multiple teams within those shops. I have seen a few different ways that an automotive repair facility can be run, both good and bad.
This brings me to why I have started my own repair facility and what sets us apart from everyone else. My wife, my two daughters, and I moved to South Carolina in 2015 with nothing but each other and our faith in the Lord. God provided us with a wonderful family when he led us to join and become active at New River Church in Lake Wylie, SC. This family and the Clover community helped to support us as we rebuilt our lives here in South Carolina. As time went on, we felt like God was calling us to do more for this community. We were constantly seeing opportunities to help others, but we weren’t always able to due to a lack of resources. Finally, God made it clear that we were supposed to start our own automotive repair facility—one where the experience has clear, honest communication and no pressure. We started small and have allowed the business to grow at its own pace, focusing on making sure the repair experience always exceeds any expectations! In a very short period of time, we have felt the overwhelming support from this community and have already been able to give back to so many, keeping families and individuals’ vehicles on the road and safe for them when they are struggling a little bit.
